A boy named Ben called #116 from Sumbawanga Rural. He reported that, after he was done with primary school, he went back home to his family but his stepfather was not pleased to have him back. Ben's stepfather would abuse him because he was visually impaired and could not help in most chores like the other children.
Ben had passed his std 7 exams very well but his family couldn't afford to send him to school and take care of his siblings as well. He needed help getting back to school.
The Helpline managed to communicate with (TLB) Tanzania League of the blind who connected Ben with other service providers in his community.
Ben is back to school and doing well. His story is a reminder that disability is not inability and thanks to all the service providers who had helped him, he is closer to acheiving his dream of education. #116Stories
